New Pro Vice Chancellors of IGNOU

Prof. Nageshwar Rao and Prof. Sushma Yadava have joined Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) as Pro Vice Chancellors .

Professor Nageshwar Rao has earlier served as the Vice chancellor of UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allhabad (UP). An eminent scholar and Gold Medalist from Allahabad University, Prof. Rao has worked in various academic capacities in Vikram University, Ujjain; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; and University of Allahabad apart from other important positions held like Member of the Governing Council in Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and President of the Indian Accounting Association.

Born in February 1957, Prof. Nageshwar Rao became the Vice Chancellor of UPRTOU, Allahabad at the age of 51. Having served for more than 23 years as Professor in Management he got appointed for five times as the Dean, Faculty of Management Studies; Dean, Faculty of Information Technology; and Director of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Business Management in Vikram University, Ujjain (MP).

For his academic excellence, Prof. Rao was awarded, two times, Gold Medal from the University of Allahabad. His significant contributions in other areas have also been honored as briefly mentioned below:

Honoured by Gramin Patrakar Association Ltd Uttar Pradesh for contribution in Journalism in their 20th Conference at Allahabad in 2011

Honoured by World Welfare and Astrology Research Institute, Allahabad in 2010

Bioved Honorary Fellowship Award of Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture and Technology, Allahabad in 2010
“Sahitya Gaurav 2010” by Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Parishad, Allahabad in 2010.

Professor Sushma Yadava, who has earlier served as an eminent Professor of Public Policy & Governenace in Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi has joined IGNOU as Pro Vice Chancellor.

An eminent scholar & Gold Medalist from the Delhi University, Prof. Yadava has a very rich teaching and research experience of about 30 years. She has also been Chair Professor, Dr Ambedkar Chair in Social Justice in Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.

Professor Yadava has authored more than a dozen of books/monographs on Public Administration, Planning, Social Justice, Gender Issues, Culture and Politics etc. Her five books in the areas are forthcoming. She has on her credit a number of research publications and has a good number of academic work executed in

awarding/supervising M.Phil/Ph.D degrees from various universities like University of Delhi, Punjab University Chandigarh, Anna University Chennai, and the Kurukshetra University.

Prof. Yadava has many awards and distinction on her credit, which among others include:

First Phule Balijan Ratna Samman by Satyasodhak Samaj (International), New Delhi in 2011
Jeewak Shikshak Puraskar by Jeevak Welfare Society, Nagpur in 2010
National IFJA Award by Farm Journalist Association, New Delhi in 2008
National Leader Award by Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s College, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan in 2006

She has been member of the Academic Council, University of Delhi and also served as the elected member of the Executive Committee (during 1994-96 and 2002-04) of Delhi Regional Branch of IIPA. She is also member of –

Governing Body, Indian Social Institute, New Delhi, Academic Council, Central University of Gujarat, Academic Council, H. P. University Shimla, Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, Women Power Connect, New Delhi.
